Hive Entrance Dial – Beehive Entrance Reducer, Made in USA
Pairs well with
An entrance reducer you turn instead of lose. A wooden entrance reducer gets knocked out of a nuc box, chewed by mice, or left in the grass in April and never seen again. This one mounts to the front of the box and rotates: open the entrance wide for a strong colony in a flow, choke it down for a new package or a robbing-season dearth, and shut it for a move.
Injection molded in Baltimore, by a beekeeper. We started making these because we were tired of watching dials go chalky and brittle in our own yard after a single summer, then snap the first cold morning we went to close an entrance. Ours are high-grade polypropylene carrying three times the standard UV additive, which is the whole difference between a dial that still turns in year five and one you replace every season.
Seven colors, which is the other reason to use them. Beekeepers color-code their yards with these: red for a hive that needs requeening, yellow for one you have treated, green for the ones you can walk past. From the truck you can see what needs attention before you put your veil on.
Fits Apimaye boxes exactly — we worked with Apimaye-USA on the fit — and works just as well on home-built boxes, nucs and swarm traps.
Sold in 10-packs and 150-count cases. Running a club or placing a bulk order? Get in touch.
