InstantVap 18V Lite Oxalic Acid Vaporizer

InstantVap® Lite Oxalic Acid Vaporizer

A cordless oxalic acid vaporizer for hobby beekeepers with up to 20 hives: about 25–30 seconds per 2 g dose (about a minute and a half at 4 g) on the DeWalt, Milwaukee, Makita, Ridgid or Bosch battery you already own.

The Lite is the most affordable InstantVap at $349 and is rated 4.9/5 by 130+ beekeepers. It shares the stainless, aluminum and brass build and the precision heater of the Original and Compact in a lighter, simpler body: connect the battery and it heats, no switch to forget. It runs happily on the 3Ah pack that comes with most drill kits. Sold, serviced and covered by a two-year warranty at Lorob Bees in Baltimore, MD.

⚙️ Performance + Operating Notes

• Dose: Adjustable 1–4 g. Most beekeepers run 2 g or 4 g per hive.
• Heating Time: Requires approx. 50–60 seconds to reach operating temperature.
• Vaporization Time: Typically 25–30 seconds per 2 g dose, or about 1 minute 30 seconds per 4 g dose, followed by a brief reheating interval.
• Battery: Use a 3Ah or larger battery. Smaller packs will run it, but they sag under load and slow the cycle down.
• Compatible with Larger Batteries: Higher-capacity batteries can reduce cycle time between treatments.

🔄 Differences from Other Models

• Compact, Cost-Saving Design: Reduced chamber size and simplified housing make it more affordable while preserving performance.
• Exclusive Components: The Lite uses its own dispenser, silicone cap, and brass outlet — not interchangeable with the Original or Compact models.
• No Manual Switch: Simpler plug-and-play operation.
• Modest Battery Requirement: Happy on a 3Ah battery, the size that comes with most drill kits — no need to buy a big 5Ah pack.

✅ Recommended Use

• Best for beekeepers with up to 20 hives — ideal for hobbyists, beginners, or as a travel-friendly backup unit.
• For larger operations, consider the InstantVap Compact or Original models for faster, more continuous treatments.

🧪 When to Use Oxalic Acid Vaporization

Oxalic acid vaporization is most effective when mites are on adult bees, not hidden beneath wax cappings. Since oxalic acid can’t penetrate capped brood, the best results happen when the colony is broodless or has reduced brood.

Great times to treat include:

• Late fall or winter, when bees are clustered and broodless
• After capturing or installing a swarm
• During a natural brood break or after requeening

These treatment windows allow the vapor to reach nearly every mite — increasing success rates without disrupting the colony.
